Nose Lake,Washburn, Cassian update 2/28

Published: February 28, 2026

It’s that time of the year when grooming becomes iffy.  Today both Nose Lake and Washburn were groomed.  We did not do anything with Cassian.  For Nose Lake I attempted to put down new tracks.  At best I would say they are inconsistent.  We are now in that season melting-freezing.  That leaves our tracks very icy, and the deck also the same.  After making several passes over both east and west loops, I got a track.  In my opinion, the east set up better than the west.  The snow is transitioning to ice.  You will find stretches of good tracks, along with some stretches where the track appears washed out, or crumbling.  Unless we get more snow, we could be looking at one of the last grooming’s of the season, if not the last.  The weekly forecast doesn’t look good.  At Washburn, we just cleaned up the skate deck, and left the classic tracks alone.
