The deck at Washburn was cleaned up this morning, and some of the classic tracks were reset. Because of the melting/freezing this week, it left the surface very icy, and as a result the tracks that were reset are ok, but not the best. It was for that reason it was decided not to reset tracks at Cassian. The trail was rolled on Tuesday, but the mid week rain, thaw, and freezing just left the surface in bad shape, so with that said, Cassian is done for the season. This week doesn’t look great for the trails. We will be cleaning up the deck once more at Washburn on Monday. After that we’ll see how it goes.
Ok folks, we’re at that time of the year when day to day weather will greatly influence any grooming operations. We have plenty of snow to work with, but temperatures will impact when and if we can groom. We will groom as long as snow conditions warrant it. This week doesn’t look good for a lot of grooming. It looks like we will be able to groom the Sat./Sun. snow. We will try to roll it tomorrow and groom on Monday. To maintain the the best conditions for skiing try to avoid the warmest parts of the day. Ski early or late to maintain the integrity of the snow we have. By Monday we plan on having Washburn and Nose Lake ready. We will get to Cassian when better conditions occur.
Washburn was refreshed today and some new classic tracks were set. The tracks at Nose Lake and Cassian are holding up well.
Grooming has been completed at all three trail systems. Nose Lake and Cassian have new tracks after last nights 6″ of new snow. Washburn will be completed by this evening. As of this morning some classic tracks were not reset, but will be tonight.
Washburn and Nose Lake have been groomed since Thursday and are ready for skiers. Washburn will be cleaned up on Sat. morning after the 2+ inches of predicted snow, and brushed again on late Saturday. Depending on the snowfall will dictate if Nose Lake will be tore up and re-tracked on Saturday. As for Cassian it took longer that planned to compact all the new snow. We are letting it sit and firm up some more, and we will be grooming it on Saturday morning.
We’re getting closer to having all three trails up and running. Washburn was completed this afternoon. It will need a little touch tomorrow after tonights snow. The only section that we didn’t groom was the Landfill loop. Drifts are highs and will need special attention to get through. Nose Lake was rolled today and even with tonight’s snow, will be tracked tomorrow. Cassian is still scheduled to be groomed on Thursday. It was packed today, and will need a little more attention tomorrow, before grooming on Thursday morning.
Washburn was packed again this morning. Portions of the trail still need to be rolled, while other segments are ready for grooming. This will be taken care of tomorrow. The landfill loop will be closed until at which time we can even get a sled through it. Cassian will be packed tomorrow, and will probably be ready by the end of Thursday. Nose Lake was compacted on Sunday, but is in need of more, along with being rolled. Would have been completed today, but didn’t plan on getting stuck in my driveway. So tomorrow is the day for final rolling. Tracks then will be set on Wednesday morning.
Another 12″ fell last night. It will take us a day or two to get the trails up and running. If our groomers can get out of their own driveways today, they are going try and begin packing at Washburn and Nose Lake. If not we will start packing tomorrow. Please be patient. We should have some good skiing conditions once things settle down. We will post again as soon as any of the trails are ready.
5+ inches of new snow arrived today. Washburn was rolled tonight, and will be groomed tomorrow. Cassian is bing rolled tomorrow, and will be groomed on Friday. Nose Lake will be rolled tomorrow, and possibly groomed. If not tomorrow, by Friday it will be groomed.
This morning the groomers refreshed the skate deck, but didn’t touch any of the classic tracks. Classic tracks will be redone after the next snowfall on Wed. In all likelihood we will be doing the same thing on Cassian, but on Thursday or Friday.
